FAQ

Question: Does my child have to go to school or live within your boundary to be eligible to play at Germantown?

Answer: No, Germantown allows any child from any location to play at Germantown in its Spring and Fall Seasons.

Question: What is a concession buy-out?

Answer: For every registered player, Germantown requires a parent or guardian to volunteer one shift helping the park by working in the concession stand. This is a great way to get to know other folks at the park and support the league. If you are unable to commit to volunteering one shift, the league charges a $50 buy-out of the volunteer duty which essentially adds the cost to the player's registration.

Question: Am I required to provide proof of school and/or residency to play at Germantown?

Answer: No, Germantown allows any child ages 3-16 to play at Germantown following the Little League Age Chart for the Spring and Fall Seasons.

Question: Why am I required to provide my Drivers License during registration as a volunteer?

Answer: We are required under Federal Law that every adult that volunteers and works with children to run a background check.  The Drivers License allows us to verify the person that is volunteering.

Question: Why does the registration ask for proof of residency or school if it is not required?

Answer: To be eligible for Little League Tournament Play in the months of June-August, Little League requires certain documents for proof of eligibility.

Question: What if I can’t provide proof of boundary eligibility for the Little League Tournament Play?

Answer: If you would like to participate in tournament play, please reach out to the league prior to registration closing to confirm eligibility if you have reason to believe you live outside league boundaries and do not attend a school within league boundaries.

Question: Can my child play up or down in a division?

Answer: Possibly. If a division of play is not available to you during registration you may seek a variance by reaching out to a player agent on the Board of Directors page or emailing at [email protected]

Question: When are practices and games played?

Answer: The season typically consists of a pre-season practice period, and an in-season game period. During pre-season teams are given approximately 2 practice slots one weekday and one weekend day. During the in-season period, up to two games may be played during the week and a practice slot is made available on the weekends. Practice slots are assigned at the conclusion of registration.

Question: How long is the Spring season? Fall Season?

Answer: Spring Season practices will start at the end of February/beginning of March; Games will start early April and end towards the beginning of June.  There will be an in-house tournament for divisions with 3 or more teams at the end of May/beginning of June.  Fall Season practices will start at the beginning of August; Games will start at the beginning of September and end right before Halloween. Weather is a frequent factor and game schedules adjust to accommodate rain events.

Question: How do we know if weather will cancel a game or practice?

All games and practices should be assumed to be "on" unless they are called off. The president of the league makes the determination to close the park for play based on actual field conditions. Forecasted weather does not constitute grounds for cancelling planned activities, this may cause uncertainty when weather is forecasted, but we have seen times when bad forecasted weather does not materialize, even when shown on radar to look like a direct hit. Please be patient when weather appears to be a factor. Remember that in the old days you didn't know if practice was cancelled until you showed up and the coach was waiting in a jacket and boots to say "cancelled". Assume that it is on, and keep the faith!
